Get FREE detailed New Zealand travel information on accommodation, attractions, things to do and see . . .

This guide is the big picture, the overall view, but if you want detailed information on what to see, where to go, where to eat, where to stay go to my (Not quite) Complete Guide to New Zealand Travel

Where to stay, where to eat, what to see.  Yes, all that.  But much more. It is aimed primarily at self-drive travellers and they need to know much more.

The problem is how to deliver this information in a logical way - and I have decided to serve it up as the road rolls under you.  That is, the information is given kilometre by kilometre for each of the state highways.

It is a work in progress. And so far it has been seven years in the making.  It is far from complete, but if you are touring NZ you may find it useful.

Canyoning in New Zealand

Canyoning in New Zealand

The following is a listing of New Zealand canyoning operators arranged, more-or-less, in geographic order starting in the north. The description of each operation is supplied by the operators themselves.

AWOL Canyoning Adventures Limited
Auckland Region
CANYONING - abseiling under showering waterfalls, streams through caves, jumps, water slides into hidden pools! Forty minutes from Auckland- transport, lunch, beverages, equipment provided.

Canyonz
Auckland Region
CANYONING! Ride nature's giant hydroslides! Abseil, swim, slide and jump into secret gorges. Stunning rainforests, sparkling waterfalls, deep pools, ancient volcanoes and wild beaches!

Nikau Cave

Nikau Cave is a glowworm cave situated in the peaceful rural setting of a real farm about 90 minutes south of Auckland. The cave offers a variety of underground conditions ranging from easy walking to a low crawl. A large variety of limestone formations can be seen, including large caverns full of glowworms, stalactites and stalagmites, giant pillars, tiny 'straws', and limestone 'shawls'.

Live-life Experiences
Nelson Region
Discover water sculptured limestone holes, bowls, spires and cliffs. The fact that you're abseiling through this area is only part of the thrill. The canyon gets so tight that it?s almost shoulder distance apart, yet it?s so deep!

Flock Hill Lodge
Canterbury Region
Canyoning - an adventurous extension to abseiling, descending twin stream ravine and the 115 mtr Ribbon Falls. Experienced guides and all equipment supplied.
